If you’re a newcomer to web hosting and seeking a brief overview, here are a few points to help you grasp the concept of web hosting more comprehensively.
What is it exactly? Often referred to as “Website Hosting,” it signifies a package that provides you with space and resources to house your website data.
It’s crucial to understand that this is a different service from “domain names.” A domain name is the URL that appears in your browser (such as ‘website.com’), which connects to the Website Hosting package to display the data. Both these services are needed to establish a website.
Thus, to initiate the process of creating a website, the first step involves procuring 1. A domain name, and 2. A Web hosting package.
There are numerous types of website hosting, and to prevent any confusion, we will only discuss the types offered by us at The Geekpoint.
cPanel hosting
This pertains to the individual account plans we provide. Each plan comes with a single cPanel account and its associated specifications. Choose the plan that aligns with your needs based on these specifications.
You can manage your websites and emails using various tools.
These packages are housed on a shared server, alongside other users with similar packages. Every account is securely isolated using Cagefs, ensuring the safety of your data regardless of the activities of other users on the same server.
Agency Hosting
Agency hosts get a limited quantity of accounts (for instance: 50 , 100) and a control panel to oversee each of them, along with their agency tools. This agency control panel is referred to as “WHM”.
They can design packages (akin to our individual account plans), allocate as many resources as they wish, and then sell them to their customers at a price. These packages are also situated on a shared server.
Dedicated Servers
As the name implies, dedicated servers are completely at your disposal. There are two types of servers: unmanaged ones where you need to install everything from scratch, and the second type that we provide: managed servers. In the latter, we manage the software aspect, so all you need to do is oversee your cPanel accounts and data.
This option is ideal if you desire independence and ownership of your server.
